Designated Mean Point of Impact

Joint Publication 1-02 defines DMPT (Designated mean point of impact) as a designated mean point of impact or desired mean point of impact.

In general, the MPI is used in describing the accuracy and effect of various area weapons. Mortars, Artillery and airstrikes shoot or drop a number of bombs in various patterns. These collections of bombs fall in the general area of the target, and a calculation (or estimation) can be done to determine the mean (average) point at which they have exploded.

Famous quotes containing the words designated, point and/or impact:

    Harold Rosenberg (1906–1978)

... there is no point in being realistic about here and now, no use at all not any, and so it is not the nineteenth but the twentieth century, there is no realism now, life is not real it is not earnest, it is strange which is an entirely different matter.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)

The question confronting the Church today is not any longer whether the man in the street can grasp a religious message, but how to employ the communications media so as to let him have the full impact of the Gospel message.
Pope John Paul II (b. 1920)
