Early Life

Having passed the 11-plus examination, Hatton attended Liverpool Institute for Boys from 1959 to 1964. His subsequent academic success was limited, but he enjoyed sports and appeared on stage as Gratiano in a school production of Merchant of Venice with the future-theatre producer Bill Kenwright CBE.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:

The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring. I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts, as in a palace.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

It is sweet to dance to violins
When Love and Life are fair:
To dance to flutes, to dance to lutes
    Is delicate and rare:
But it is not sweet with nimble feet
    To dance upon the air!
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
