Denver Coliseum - Dedication

Dedication

The dedication event, “Salute to the Soil” was held on January 10, 1952 and focused on the region’s agricultural and ranching industries. The building opened to rave reviews, and writers extolled its “long, sweeping curves and graceful lines” and “the biggest parking lot Denver visitors have ever seen” – 12½ acres. “Tiny, blonde" June Haver, Twentieth Century-Fox film star, was official hostess for the occasion, greeting her fans with an incandescent glamour that outshone the bright lights focused on the dedication.

Famous quotes containing the word dedication:

A friend of mine spoke of books that are dedicated like this: “To my wife, by whose helpful criticism ...” and so on. He said the dedication should really read: “To my wife. If it had not been for her continual criticism and persistent nagging doubt as to my ability, this book would have appeared in Harper’s instead of The Hardware Age.”
    Brenda Ueland (1891–1985)

It is difficult for me to imagine the same dedication to women’s rights on the part of the kind of man who lives in partnership with someone he likes and respects, and the kind of man who considers breast-augmentation surgery self-improvement.
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
