Denefield School - Building

Building

The original school building, although only meant to be temporary, is still standing today. However much of the school is currently being rebuilt and refurbished to bring it up to modern standards, with brand new facilities for the Science, Technology and Expressive Arts curriculum areas, and new sixth form facilities under construction. Of the 2012 term, the building for the sixth form has been completed. The school overlooks beautiful open country side and from selected classes in the Piaget building (Science) you can see the village, of Purley on Thames.

The school has a field which it usually uses for Physical Education.(Mostly Rugby, Hockey and Cross Country) The end of the field resides just before Purley-On-Thames, the sign shows that there is a fence and then you enter Purley.

The school uses the house system: Houses are Sulham, Langley, Norcot and Kentwood. The houses correspond to villages/districts around the school.

The buses: 15, 16 and 994 leave from inside the school grounds and the TG1 bus is available opposite the school on Long Lane.

Famous quotes containing the word building:

I am not building here a statue to erect at the town crossroads, or in a church or a public square.... This is for a nook in a library, and to amuse a neighbor, a relative, a friend, who may take pleasure in associating and conversing with me.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

A publisher is a specialised form of bank or building society, catering for customers who cannot cope with life and are therefore forced to write about it.
    Colin Haycraft (b. 1929)

The mention of one apartment in a building naturally introduces an enquiry or discourse concerning the others: and if we think of a wound, we can scarcely forbear reflecting on the pain which follows it.
    David Hume (1711–1776)
