Delta Dawn - Lyrical Story

Lyrical Story

The title character is a faded southern belle from Brownsville, Tennessee, who at forty-one is obsessed to unreason by the long ago memory of an errant suitor. The song's lyrics describe how the woman regularly "walks downtown with a suitcase in her hand/ Looking for a mysterious dark haired man" who she says is "meeting her…today/ To take to his mansion in the sky". Reddy's recording in particular has choir-like inspirational overtones as well.

Famous quotes containing the word story:

The unread story is not a story; it is little black marks on wood pulp. The reader, reading it, makes it live: a live thing, a story.
