Famous quotes containing the words deep, purple and/or concert:
“Out of the deep depths of misfortune comes bliss.”
—Chinese proverb.
“How clean the sun when seen in its idea,
Washed in the remotest cleanliness of a heaven
That has expelled us and our images . . .
The death of one god is the death of all.
Let purple Phoebus lie in umber harvest,
Let Phoebus slumber and die in autumn umber....”
—Wallace Stevens (18791955)
“Proportion ... You cant help thinking about it in these London streets, where it doesnt exist.... Its like listening to a symphony of cats to walk along them. Senseless discords and a horrible disorder all the way.... A concert of Brobdingnagian cats. Order has been turned into a disgusting chaos. We need no barbarians from outside; theyre on the premises, all the time.”
—Aldous Huxley (18941963)
