Decision Analysis Cycle

The decision analysis (DA) cycle is the top-level procedure for carrying out a decision analysis. The traditional cycle consists of four phases:

  • basis development
  • determinisitic sensitivity analysis
  • probabilistic analysis
  • basis appraisal.

The diagram below depicts the Decision Analysis Cycle:

A revised form of the cycle consists of an attention-focusing method followed by a decision method, each of which is composed of three stages:

  • formulation
  • evaluation
  • appraisal.

Famous quotes containing the words decision, analysis and/or cycle:

The decision to feed the world
is the real decision. No revolution
has chosen it. For that choice requires
    that women shall be free.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

Cubism had been an analysis of the object and an attempt to put it before us in its totality; both as analysis and as synthesis, it was a criticism of appearance. Surrealism transmuted the object, and suddenly a canvas became an apparition: a new figuration, a real transfiguration.
    Octavio Paz (b. 1914)

The Buddha, the Godhead, resides quite as comfortably in the circuits of a digital computer or the gears of a cycle transmission as he does at the top of a mountain or in the petals of a flower.
    Robert M. Pirsig (b. 1928)
