Death Cab For Cutie (song) - Performances

Performances

The Bonzo Dog Band can be seen playing the song in a 1967 episode of the children's TV series Do Not Adjust Your Set (now available on DVD), where the band is gushingly introduced by Michael Palin (who gets the title wrong). The band, called the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band at the time, appeared regularly on the show - a so-called children's programme which featured Palin, Eric Idle and other later famous comedians.

Alex Chilton of Big Star covered the song live on WLYX Memphis in 1975. The song is also referenced on the 1984 Culture Club album Waking Up with the House on Fire, in the song "Crime Time", which is a throwback to the early rock 'n' roll sound. The indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie were named after the song.

Famous quotes containing the word performances:

At one of the later performances you asked why they called it a “miracle,”
Since nothing ever happened. That, of course, was the miracle
But you wanted to know why so much action took on so much life
And still managed to remain itself, aloof, smiling and courteous.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)

This play holds the season’s record [for early closing], thus far, with a run of four evening performances and one matinee. By an odd coincidence it ran just five performances too many.
    Dorothy Parker (1893–1967)
