After a year in Purgatory, Dean escapes with the aid of a vampire called Benny, who he subsequently restores to life with a ritual, but Castiel's fate is initially unknown. Reuniting with Sam and Kevin, Dean learns that Kevin has discovered another Word of God tablet containing a ritual that could seal the gates of Hell forever, but Kevin flees because he does not trust Dean to keep him safe.
