Uranus Hill
Around the hill was located the Uranus quarter, named after the main thoroughfare, which ran up the hill from Calea Rahovei to the Stadium, and thence to Splaiul Independenţei and Izvor. This was one of the historic districts completely destroyed by Nicolae Ceauşescu's communist regime, in order to build the House of the People (see Ceauşima). It had been the site of many historic buildings, including a number of churches and synagogues. Also, when the hill was razed for the building, under it was found a mass grave. Further research showed that the sketelons belonged to people who died of the Black Death.

Famous quotes containing the word hill:
“What was dancing to you then?
We went from the high gate away
To a black hill the other side of men
Where one wild stag stared
At the going day.”
