Famous quotes containing the words modern, dead, drop and/or techniques:

The great British Library—an immense collection of volumes of all ages and languages, many of which are now forgotten, and most of which are seldom read: one of these sequestered pools of obsolete literature to which modern authors repair, and draw buckets full of classic lore, or “pure English, undefiled” wherewith to swell their own scanty rills of thought.
    Washington Irving (1783–1859)

    Thomas Wolfe (1900–1938)

    carrot colored, gaped at,
allowing my cracked o’s to drop on the sea
    near Venice and Mombasa.
    Over Maine I have rested.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

You are not squandering their time no matter what the latest child development books say about “purposeful play” and “cognitive learning skills.”
    Neil Kurshan (20th century)
