Chorus
DeLand's chorus program, led by Melinda O'Neil, is an exceptional program that has gained recognition throughout Florida. Recent performances include Disney's Candlelight, Winter Concerts, luncheons throughout Volusia County, regional and state Music Performance Assessments (MPAs), and in-school performances. In the 2009-2010 year, the choral program at DeLand High School sent 11 musicians to the statewide All-State competition, which is extremely rigorous. The choral program at DeLand High School includes the General Chorus, Men's Ensemble, Quintessentials, DHSingers, the Woman's Chorale, and the Concert Choir.

Famous quotes containing the word chorus:
“How have I been able to live so long outside Nature without identifying myself with it? Everything lives, moves, everything corresponds; the magnetic rays, emanating either from myself or from others, cross the limitless chain of created things unimpeded; it is a transparent network that covers the world, and its slender threads communicate themselves by degrees to the planets and stars. Captive now upon earth, I commune with the chorus of the stars who share in my joys and sorrows.”
—Gérard De Nerval (18081855)
“Consensus is what many people say in chorus but do not believe as individuals.”
—Abba Eban (b. 1915)
“For decades child development experts have erroneously directed parents to sing with one voice, a unison chorus of values, politics, disciplinary and loving styles. But duets have greater harmonic possibilities and are more interesting to listen to, so long as cacophony or dissonance remains at acceptable levels.”
—Kyle D. Pruett (20th century)
