Drum and Bugle Corps
Holsinger's works have been very popular in the world of drum and bugle corps since the 1987 Cavaliers first put "Liturgical Dances" on the field. In 1993 Holsinger—himself a former marching band director—spent time with the Cadets to help them understand the music they were portraying, with To Tame the Perilous Skies (1992 Cadets, 2nd place). At the Strongholds of En Gedi (2000 Seattle Cascades), In the Spring, When Kings go off to War and On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss (Both 1993 Cadets, 1st place), Symphonia Ressurecttus (2002 Spirit and 2003 Magic of Orlando), Abram's Pursuit (2001 Seattle Cascades, 2003 Magic of Orlando), well as Battle Music (2007 Bluecoats), and many other works performed by junior and senior corps frequently since 1987.

Famous quotes containing the words drum, bugle and/or corps:
“It has been an unchallengeable American doctrine that cranberry sauce, a pink goo with overtones of sugared tomatoes, is a delectable necessity of the Thanksgiving board and that turkey is uneatable without it.... There are some things in every country that you must be born to endure; and another hundred years of general satisfaction with Americans and America could not reconcile this expatriate to cranberry sauce, peanut butter, and drum majorettes.”
—Alistair Cooke (b. 1908)
“The hounding of a dog pursuing a fox or other animal in the horizon may have first suggested the notes of the hunting-horn to alternate with and relieve the lungs of the dog. This natural bugle long resounded in the woods of the ancient world before the horn was invented.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“There was nothing to equal it in the whole history of the Corps Diplomatique.”
—James Boswell (17401795)
