David Hudson DePatie (born May 26, 1935) was the last executive in charge of the original Warner Bros. Cartoons cartoon studio and was charged with closing it in 1963. Afterward, DePatie and longtime Warners animator Friz Freleng formed DePatie-Freleng Enterprises (DFE), with many former Warners animators joining them. The new firm created the animated character known as Pink Panther. After DFE was sold to Cadence Industries in 1980 and renamed Marvel Productions, DePatie continued heading the company.
