Later Life
After his release, he earned a college degree at the University of Delaware and a law degree at the University of Oregon. In 1987, after passing the Oregon Bar exam, Fine was denied admission to the Bar on the grounds that "he had failed to show good moral character." Fine appealed the decision to the Supreme Court of Oregon which upheld the decision. In the court's decision it was written:
He has not shown himself to be a credible person and did not establish that he now has the good moral character required to practice law. We base our decision on applicant's present statements about his past acts. We recognize that persons can and do reform. As of August 2010, Fine is married and works as a paralegal in Portland, Oregon.

Famous quotes containing the word life:
“Women generally should be taught that the rough life men must needs lead, in order to be healthy, useful and manly men, would preclude the possibility of a great degree of physical perfection, especially in color. It is not a bad reflection to know that in all probability the human animal has endowments enough without aspiring to be the beauty of all creation as well as the ruler.”
—Caroline Nichols Churchill (1833?)
“Modernism: the books are as hard to understand as life itself.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
