Genn's father is artist Robert Genn. In February 2006, Genn married local Vancouver weather personality Tamara Taggart. Dave and his wife, Tamara, have a son, Beckett born August 2, 2007, daughter Zoë born September 24, 2008, and daughter Poppy born August 16, 2010.
