The Darwin Mountains is a group of mountains between the Darwin and Hatherton glaciers. Discovered by the British National Antarctic Expedition (1901–04) and named for Major Leonard Darwin, at that time Honorary Secretary of the Royal Geographical Society.

    —Charles Darwin (1809–1882)

I can’t do with mountains at close quarters—they are always in the way, and they are so stupid, never moving and never doing anything but obtrude themselves.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)
