    • the Badge is to be worn on the right hip from a sash passing over the left shoulder and under the right arm, and the Star is to be worn on the left side of the outer garment
  • the Second Class, consisting of the Badge and the Star of the Order
    • the Badge is to be worn suspended round the neck from a ribbon, and the Star is to be worn on the left side of the outer garment
  • the Third Class, consisting of the Badge of the Order
    • the Badge is to be worn suspended round the neck from a ribbon.

Ordinarily, only Singapore citizens could be admitted to the Order, but in special circumstances non-Singapore citizens may also be admitted in an honorary capacity. The Order is conferred by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister.
