Daniel S. Loeb - Opinions

Opinions

Loeb is well known in the financial world for writing public letters, in which he expresses disapproval of the performance and conduct of other financial executives. Supporters contend his letter writing is effective shareholder activism; critics counter that his letters are distracting for executives and uncomfortable for investors. Less than 10% of Third Point's total assets under management goes to shareholder activism.

Loeb has argued that the United States government is undergoing a 'crisis of leadership'; in his opinion, the administration of President Barack Obama is committed to "redistribution rather than growth".

Famous quotes containing the word opinions:

The more opinions you have, the less you see.
    Wim Wenders (b. 1945)

Men conceive themselves as morally superior to those with whom they differ in opinion. A Socialist who thinks that the opinions of Mr. Gladstone on Socialism are unsound and his own sound, is within his rights; but a Socialist who thinks that his opinions are virtuous and Mr. Gladstone’s vicious, violates the first rule of morals and manners in a Democratic country; namely, that you must not treat your political opponent as a moral delinquent.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

Of the opinions of philosophy I most gladly embrace those that are most solid, that is to say, most human and most our own; my opinions, in conformity with my conduct, are low and humble.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)
