Personal Life
Naulty details a hard upbringing in an article published by Tom Verducci in the June 4, 2012 issue of Sports Illustrated. His older sister's heroin and crack cocaine addiction is what led to the decision for him to live with his father. Shortly after moving to Huntington Beach with his father, his father took a job in Kuwait that left Dan in the care of a baseball coach most of the time, who soon began sexually abusing him. Shortly afterwards, a female teacher also began abusing Naulty.
Naulty's sister is now clean. Naulty and his father-in-law, former Los Angeles Dodgers and California Angels third baseman Johnny Werhas, helped found the Rock Community Church in Yorba Linda, where both serve as pastors. Naulty and his wife Cassie have two sons, and live on the minimum salary their family needs to run their household.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:
“[The election] ... was an event in which, so far as the personal side is concerned, the victory was to him who lost and the defeat to him who won. I can say that never in the last fifteen years have I had the peace of mind that I have since the election. I have almost a feeling of elation.”
—Herbert Hoover (18741964)
“The feeling of being hurried is not usually the result of living a full life and having no time. It is on the contrary born of a vague fear that we are wasting our life. When we do not do the one thing we ought to do, we have no time for anything elsewe are the busiest people in the world.”
—Eric Hoffer (19021983)
