Dammit (Growing Up) - Song Information

Song Information

The song was co-written by Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Scott Raynor (with Mark Hoppus also writing the lyrics), and was produced by Mark Trombino. It was reportedly written in "five minutes" as Hoppus wondered the consequences of breaking up with his girlfriend. The distinctive riff of the song was created when Hoppus was forced to skip over the missing two strings on an acoustic guitar.

Famous quotes containing the words song and/or information:

There is the falsely mystical view of art that assumes a kind of supernatural inspiration, a possession by universal forces unrelated to questions of power and privilege or the artist’s relation to bread and blood. In this view, the channel of art can only become clogged and misdirected by the artist’s concern with merely temporary and local disturbances. The song is higher than the struggle.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

Rejecting all organs of information ... but my senses, I rid myself of the Pyrrhonisms with which an indulgence in speculations hyperphysical and antiphysical so uselessly occupy and disquiet the mind.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
