The Dallas-Fort Worth area is divided between Democrats in the urban areas and Republicans in the suburban and rural areas. Democratic voters dominate a majority of areas in the city of Dallas, including some inner suburbs in Dallas County. Republicans dominate most suburbs and the rural areas of the Metroplex. When taking the entire metropolitan area into account, however, Republicans have consistently carried it in presidential elections.

Famous quotes containing the word politics:
“Of course, in the reality of history, the Machiavellian view which glorifies the principle of violence has been able to dominate. Not the compromising conciliatory politics of humaneness, not the Erasmian, but rather the politics of vested power which firmly exploits every opportunity, politics in the sense of the Principe, has determined the development of European history ever since.”
—Stefan Zweig (18811942)
“The politics of the family are the politics of a nation. Just as the authoritarian family is the authoritarian state in microcosm, the democratic family is the best training ground for life in a democracy.”
—Letty Cottin Pogrebin (20th century)
“Politics begin where the masses are, not where there are thousands, but where there are millions, that is where serious politics begin.”
—Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (18701924)
