Since 1999 the company has experienced improvements including 11 straight years of improved clinical outcomes and financial results. DaVita acquired Gambro in 2004. This merger nearly doubled the number of DaVita’s outpatient facilities, combining DaVita's 664 clinics with Gambro Healthcare's 565 clinics. As of Dec. 31 2011, DaVita operates or provides administrative services at more than 1,800 dialysis facilities and domestically employs more than 41,000 people.
