Death
When World War I broke out, he was posted back to Europe and took part in the battle for Neuve-Chapelle, where he was killed by a German sniper on 9 May 1915 during the Battle of Festubert. He is buried at St. Vaast Post Military Cemetery, Richebourg-l'Avoué.
