  • New "Game Breakers" mode
  • Added Rookie mode
  • Bugfixes, in particular the onside kick
  • Added 100 additional plays
  • Introduced the powerback

Owners of the original Cyberball cabinets could upgrade to Cyberball 2072 via an Atari Games-produced piggyback board which updated the old Cyberball units to the Tournament version.

Tournament Cyberball developed such a following in the late '80s that many fans of the game from all over the world still play regular matches today using emulators, as well as tournaments and leagues using physical machines in arcades.

Cyberball 2072 was released in Midway Arcade Treasures 2, a disc featuring a collection of arcade games, for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox in October 2004.

It was also released on Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 on September 5, 2007.
