Currencies of Europe - Future

Future

Further information: Future enlargement of the European Union and Enlargement of the eurozone

Except for the three states with opt outs, all current and future members of the EU are obliged to adopt the Euro as their currency, thus replacing their current ones. Denmark, which has an opt out, is expected to hold a referendum on its opt-outs due to increasing pressure to adopt the Euro, the Danish Kroner already pegged to the Euro, and Denmark having fulfilled all the existing requirements.

Famous quotes containing the word future:

You have too much of a life yet before you, and have shown too much of promise as an officer, for your future to be lightly surrendered.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

Where have those flowers and butterflies all gone
That science may have staked the future on?
He seems to say the reason why so much
Should come to nothing must be fairly faced.....
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

He who asks fortune-tellers the future unwittingly forfeits an inner intimation of coming events that is a thousand times more exact than anything they may say. He is impelled by inertia, rather than curiosity, and nothing is more unlike the submissive apathy with which he hears his fate revealed than the alert dexterity with which the man of courage lays hands on the future.
    Walter Benjamin (1892–1940)
