Benedict Arnold

Tallmadge was Washington's trusted contact/courier at his HQ to the Connecticut contacts of the Culper ring and other spies. When Major John Andre was captured, his papers showing Arnold's treason were brought to Tallmadge's Dragoons. Famous quotes containing the words benedict and/or arnold:

    The prime lesson the social sciences can learn from the natural sciences is just this: that it is necessary to press on to find the positive conditions under which desired events take place, and that these can be just as scientifically investigated as can instances of negative correlation. This problem is beyond relativity.
    —Ruth Benedict (1887–1948)

    Unbreachable the fort
    Of the long-batter’d world uplifts its wall;
    And strange and vain the earthly turmoil grows,
    And near and real the charm of thy repose,
    And night as welcome as a friend would fall.
    —Matthew Arnold (1822–1888)
