Cropton Brewery

The Cropton Brewery is situated in the village of Cropton in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is on the border of the North Riding Forest Park, 2 miles north west of Pickering.

Brewing in Cropton can be traced back to 1613, though those early brews were illegal and those caught ended up in York Goal. Local women helped in the production of the earlier beers, and the 'Ale Wives' as they were known, were often cursed if they produced a bad brew.
