Kernel Performance
At LinuxCon 2009, Linux creator Linus Torvalds said that the Linux kernel has become "bloated and huge":
We're getting bloated and huge. Yes, it's a problem … Uh, I'd love to say we have a plan … I mean, sometimes it's a bit sad that we are definitely not the streamlined, small, hyper-efficient kernel that I envisioned 15 years ago … The kernel is huge and bloated, and our icache footprint is scary. I mean, there is no question about that. And whenever we add a new feature, it only gets worse.Read more about this topic: Criticism Of Linux
Famous quotes containing the words kernel and/or performance:
“All true histories contain instruction; though, in some, the treasure may be hard to find, and when found, so trivial in quantity that the dry, shrivelled kernel scarcely compensates for the trouble of cracking the nut.”
—Anne Brontë (18201849)
“No performance is worth loss of geniality. Tis a cruel price we pay for certain fancy goods called fine arts and philosophy.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
