Crime in Omaha - Current

Current

In 2007 there was an increase in crime and gang-related shootings in Omaha. Compared to other major cities, it is still very safe.

The single event with the most fatalities in recent years was due to a lone gunman. On December 5, 2007, a young man with a history of drug abuse and social problems shot at random in Westroads Mall. He wounded six people, killed eight, and killed himself there.

Famous quotes containing the word current:

But there, where I have garnered up my heart,
    Where either I must live or bear no life;
The fountain from the which my current runs
Or else dries up: to be discarded thence,
Or keep it as a cistern for foul toads
    To knot and gender in!
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Phlebas the Phoenician, a fortnight dead,
Forgot the cry of gulls, and the deep sea swell
    And the profit and loss.
    A current under sea
Picked his bones in whispers. As he rose and fell
He passed the stages of his age and youth
    Entering the whirlpool.
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)

We hear the haunting presentiment of a dutiful middle age in the current reluctance of young people to select any option except the one they feel will impinge upon them the least.
    Gail Sheehy (b. 1937)
