Famous quotes containing the words creation, seventh, day and/or church:

There’s something wonderfully exciting about the quiet sing song of an aeroplane overhead with all the guns in creation lighting out at it, and searchlights feeling their way across the sky like antennae, and the earth shaking snort of the bombs and the whimper of shrapnel pieces when they come down to patter on the roof.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)

    The seventh day of Christmas,
My true love sent to me
    Seven swans a-swimming.
—Unknown. The Twelve Days of Christmas (l. 34–36)

On the day we filmed the scene, a bee stung me. I screamed and cried so much they called a doctor, and my father said, “It can’t hurt that badly!” But it wasn’t the pain that upset me, it was the thought that I mightn’t be in the film. Already the little professional.
    Natasha Richardson (b. 1963)

Say, is there Beauty yet to find?
    And Certainty? And Quiet kind?
Deep meadows yet, for to forget
The lies, and truths, and pain? . . . oh!
Stands the Church clock at ten to three?
And is there honey still for tea?
    Rupert Brooke (1887–1915)
