Newsome coached the La Crosse River Rats of the Indoor Football League in 2000, located in La Crosse Wisconsin. While coaching he was charged with one count of obtaining a controlled substance. He currently resides in Holmen, Wisconsin where he is a coach on the high school football team. Now he coaches pee-wee football for Holmen Youth players, where his son Craig Newsome Jr. plays.
