Courthouse Square - Fires

Fires

A three alarm fire broke out at the Universal back lot in the early morning hours on June 1, 2008. It was reported that Courthouse Square was completely destroyed, though the Courthouse facade and town facade to the north are still standing. The King Kong attraction and New York Street were destroyed. The set had previously been damaged by fire in 1990.

Famous quotes containing the word fires:

My flowery and green age was passing away, and I feeling a chill in
the fires had been wasting my heart, for I was drawing near the
    hillside above the grave.
    Petrarch (1304–1374)

When the villagers were lighting their fires beyond the horizon, I too gave notice to the various wild inhabitants of Walden vale, by a smoky streamer from my chimney, that I was awake.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The lumberers rarely trouble themselves to put out their fires, such is the dampness of the primitive forest; and this is one cause, no doubt, of the frequent fires in Maine, of which we hear so much on smoky days in Massachusetts.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
