County Class Destroyer - Ships of The Class

Ships of The Class

Eight vessels were built, in two batches between 1959 and 1970, the later four vessels carrying the improved Sea Slug GWS2 and updated electronics requiring rearranged mastheads. The major identifying feature was the prominent "double bedstead" AKE-2 antennas of the Type 965 air-search radar and a taller foremast carrying the Type 992Q low-angle search radar on Batch 2.

Famous quotes containing the words ships and/or class:

Oh, let me midlife mourn by the shrined
    And druid herons’ vows
The voyage to ruin I must run,
    Dawn ships clouted aground,
Yet, though I cry with tumbledown tongue,
    Count my blessings aloud....
    Dylan Thomas (1914–1953)

We are the party of all labor.
The whole earth shall be ours to share
And every race and craft our neighbor.
No idle class shall linger there
Like vultures on the wealth we render
From field and factory, mill and mine.
Tomorrow’s sun will rise in splendor
And light us till the end of time.
    Eugène Pottier (1816–1887)
