Countdown With Keith Olbermann - Free Health Clinics

Free Health Clinics

Starting in 2009, in a response to the controversy over Obama's health care proposal, Olbermann, in conjunction with the National Association of Free Clinics, petitioned his viewers to donate money to provide free clinics in several major cities across the country. This effort spread to other MSNBC shows such as Hardball with Chris Matthews and The Dylan Ratigan Show, and continued on the Current TV edition of Countdown.

Famous quotes containing the words free and/or health:

I will never accept that I got a free ride. It wasn’t free at all. My ancestors were brought here against their will. They were made to work and help build the country. I worked in the cotton fields from the age of seven. I worked in the laundry for twenty- three years. I worked for the national organization for nine years. I just retired from city government after twelve-and-a- half years.
    Johnnie Tillmon (b. 1926)

In our great concern about the mental health of children, however, we have overlooked the mental health of mothers. They have been led to believe that their children’s needs must not be frustrated, and therefore all of their own normal angers, the normal ambivalences of living, are not permissible. The mother who has “bad” feelings toward her child is a bad mother.
    Elaine Heffner (20th century)
