Other Aspects
Besides the main spacecraft, launched in June 2005, the Cosmos 1 project has funded two other craft:
- A suborbital test was attempted in 2001 with only two sail blades. The spacecraft failed to separate from the rocket.
- A second orbital spacecraft is under construction, (LightSail-1), and is scheduled to be launched in November 2011.
One of Cosmos 1's solar sail blades was displayed at the Rockefeller Center office complex in New York City in 2003.

Famous quotes containing the word aspects:
“The North American system only wants to consider the positive aspects of reality. Men and women are subjected from childhood to an inexorable process of adaptation; certain principles, contained in brief formulas are endlessly repeated by the press, the radio, the churches, and the schools, and by those kindly, sinister beings, the North American mothers and wives. A person imprisoned by these schemes is like a plant in a flowerpot too small for it: he cannot grow or mature.”
—Octavio Paz (b. 1914)
“I suppose an entire cabinet of shells would be an expression of the whole human mind; a Flora of the whole globe would be so likewise, or a history of beasts; or a painting of all the aspects of the clouds. Everything is significant.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
