Reception
Continuing in the same vein as previous titles in the series, reviews appear to indicate that Cooking Mama 2 is still entertaining but does relatively little to move beyond existing gameplay elements. Awarding the title a 7.0 out of 10, the IGN review noted that the title was extremely similar to the previous offering, stating that "Cooking Mama 2 is just as fun as the previous game. In fact, it pretty much is the previous game." The GameSpot review echoed this, noting that the graphics were re-used and that "It's more Cooking Mama for people who just want more Cooking Mama". As a result, GameSpot rated the title a 6.0 out of 10 ("Fair").
As of March 2008, Cooking Mama 2 has a review average of 71% at Game Rankings, making it the best received game in the series to date.

Famous quotes containing the word reception:
“To aim to convert a man by miracles is a profanation of the soul. A true conversion, a true Christ, is now, as always, to be made by the reception of beautiful sentiments.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“To the United States the Third World often takes the form of a black woman who has been made pregnant in a moment of passion and who shows up one day in the reception room on the forty-ninth floor threatening to make a scene. The lawyers pay the woman off; sometimes uniformed guards accompany her to the elevators.”
—Lewis H. Lapham (b. 1935)
“Hes leaving Germany by special request of the Nazi government. First he sends a dispatch about Danzig and how 10,000 German tourists are pouring into the city every day with butterfly nets in their hands and submachine guns in their knapsacks. They warn him right then. What does he do next? Goes to a reception at von Ribbentropfs and keeps yelling for gefilte fish!”
