Kinds of Control

Control may be grouped according to three general classifications:

(1) the nature of the information flow designed into the system (open- or closed-loop control)

(2) the kind of components included in the design (man or machine control systems)

(3) the relationship of control to the decision process (organizational or operational control).

Famous quotes containing the words kinds of, kinds and/or control:

We have two kinds of “conference.” One is that to which the office boy refers when he tells the applicant for a job that Mr. Blevitch is “in conference.” This means that Mr. Blevitch is in good health and reading the paper, but otherwise unoccupied. The other type of “conference” is bona fide in so far as it implies that three or four men are talking together in one room, and don’t want to be disturbed.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)

There are only three kinds of people: those who serve God, having found him; others who are occupied in seeking him, not having found him; while the remainder live without seeking him and without having found him. The first are reasonable and happy; the last are foolish and unhappy; those between are unhappy and unreasonable.
    Blaise Pascal (1623–1662)

Playing at make-believe, the young child becomes the all-powerful person he cannot be in reality. In pretending, the child takes control of his otherwise powerless position.
    Joanne E. Oppenheim (20th century)
