Constance Lake First Nation

Constance Lake First Nation is an Oji-Cree First Nation in Cochrane District in northeastern Ontario, Canada, directly north of the community of Calstock along a continuation of Ontario Highway 663. In 2010, the First Nation had a total registered population of 1,477 people, of which the on-reserve population was 820. The main employer of the community is the Lecours lumber mill located in Calstock. In 2012 a dispute between the band and the mill (operating on a long-term federal lease) nearly led to its closure. However a last ditch effort saved the operations.

Famous quotes containing the words lake and/or nation:

The best quality tea must have creases like the leathern boot of Tartar horsemen, curl like the dewlap of a mighty bullock, unfold like a mist rising out of a ravine, gleam like a lake touched by a zephyr, and be wet and soft like a fine earth newly swept by rain.
    Lu Yu (d. 804)

What the Nation must realize is that the home, when both parents work, is non- existent. Once we have honestly faced that fact, we must act accordingly.
    Agnes E. Meyer (1887–1970)
