Conservative Friends

Conservative Friends refers to members of a certain branch of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). In the United States of America, Conservative Friends belong to three Yearly Meetings—Iowa Yearly Meeting (Conservative), North Carolina Yearly Meeting (Conservative), and Ohio Yearly Meeting. There is no single unifying association of Conservative Friends, unlike the other three main branches of Quakerism in America, represented by Friends United Meeting, Evangelical Friends International, and Friends General Conference.

Famous quotes containing the words conservative and/or friends:

No man can call himself liberal, or radical, or even a conservative advocate of fair play, if his work depends in any way on the unpaid or underpaid labor of women at home, or in the office.
    Gloria Steinem (b. 1934)

What I expect from my male friends is that they are polite and clean. What I expect from my female friends is unconditional love, the ability to finish my sentences for me when I am sobbing, a complete and total willingness to pour their hearts out to me, and the ability to tell me why the meat thermometer isn’t supposed to touch the bone.
    Anna Quindlen (20th century)
