Congregation For Divine Worship and The Discipline of The Sacraments - Vox Clara Commission

Vox Clara Commission

The congregation is also assisted by the Vox Clara commission (or committee) responsible for the translation of Latin texts into English. This commission of bishops was established during 2001 to supervise the work of ICEL on the new Roman Missal until the text was submitted to them in 2008.

Vox Clara met several times a year for three days at a time.

As of 2011, its president is the archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell, and its secretary is bishop Arthur J. Serratelli of Paterson, New Jersey.

The committee's executive secretary is Msgr. James Moroney, professor of liturgy at Saint John's Seminary (Massachusetts).

Famous quotes containing the word commission:

Yesterday the Electoral Commission decided not to go behind the papers filed with the Vice-President in the case of Florida.... I read the arguments in the Congressional Record and can’t see how lawyers can differ on the question. But the decision is by a strictly party vote—eight Republicans against seven Democrats! It shows the strength of party ties.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
