Souvenir Passports and Vehicle Registration
Through their website, the Republic issues souvenir passports. Although these are issued as souvenirs, some people have evidently acquired them in the mistaken belief that they can be used as legitimate travel and identity documents. Shortly after the September 11, 2001 attacks, FBI investigators thought that hijacker Mohamed Atta had possibly purchased a Conch Republic passport from the website. International Country Code stickers can also be purchased from vendors in Key West, bearing the initials KW and "CR" - the latter being the official initials for Costa Rica.

Famous quotes containing the words souvenir and/or vehicle:
“Mark Van Doren,
a poem of remembrance, a gift, a souvenir for you.”
—Robert Earl Hayden (19131980)
“Its idea of production value is spending a million dollars dressing up a story that any good writer would throw away. Its vision of the rewarding movie is a vehicle for some glamour-puss with two expressions and eighteen changes of costume, or for some male idol of the muddled millions with a permanent hangover, six worn-out acting tricks, the build of a lifeguard, and the mentality of a chicken-strangler.”
—Raymond Chandler (18881959)
