Criticism of Corporations

The result of the merger often emerging political power of (wholesale) companies has been criticised for their formation. The critics can be divided into three groups:

  1. 'Politics'. Political criticism about the group size are reflected in the European Union competition law and anti-trust laws.
  2. 'Church'. The Church's criticism comes as a rule of the Christian (Catholic, Protestant or Orthodox) social teaching (or corporate ethics).
  3. 'Society'. Social criticism can be found since the formation of the labour movement, especially in the currents of
  • Social democracy
  • Marxism
Since the emergence of New Social Movements companies are also in the field of view of:
  • Environmental movement and
  • Anti-globalization movement (see Black Book brand companies)
advised.

Famous quotes containing the words criticism and/or corporations:

As far as criticism is concerned, we don’t resent that unless it is absolutely biased, as it is in most cases.
    John Vorster (1915–1983)

You may cut off the heads of every rich man now living—of every statesman—every literary, and every scientific authority, without in the least changing the social situation. Artists, of course, disappeared long ago as social forces. So did the church. Corporations are not elevators, but levellers, as I see them.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)
