Ethical Issues
New and developing technologies in the medical/surgical field, and furthermore experimental devices might rise new and unforeseen risks for the patient and/or the surgical team. Ethical committees of the medical institutions have to analyze the ethical issues involved for each and every new developed device or technology. Furthermore, the high costs of the initial development of such technologies, that can be covered mostly by major hospitals, might raise questions about providing equal access to medical care for the patients.

Famous quotes containing the words ethical and/or issues:
“The repudiation of the primacy of understanding means the repudiation of the norms of judgment as well, and hence the abandonment of all ethical standards.”
—Johan Huizinga (18721945)
“How to attain sufficient clarity of thought to meet the terrifying issues now facing us, before it is too late, is ... important. Of one thing I feel reasonably sure: we cant stop to discuss whether the table has or hasnt legs when the house is burning down over our heads. Nor do the classics per se seem to furnish the kind of education which fits people to cope with a fast-changing civilization.”
—Mary Barnett Gilson (1877?)
