The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a proposed linear particle accelerator under development at CERN. It is designed to perform electron-positron collisions at a nominal energy of 3 TeV and hence to provide highly precise measurements of elementary particle interactions on an energy scale higher than any existing collider. As of February 2012, 43 institutes from 22 countries are participating in the project.
CLIC is in competition with the International Linear Collider project.

Famous quotes containing the word compact:
“The powers of the federal government ... result from the compact to which the states are parties, [and are] limited by the plain sense and intention of the instrument constituting that compact.”
