In June 2009, M2 Telecommunications purchased the Small & Medium Business division of Commander. M2 paid $19million for the acquisition

The Commander Centre Franchise chain was dissolved, with each individual Franchisee being required to sign a Deed of Release without compensation from Commander or its Administrators. The “Commander Centre” tradename was bought by M2 Telecommunications, who then appointed a select few Dealers to continue servicing the Commander-branded telephone systems.
