Colt Cabana - Wrestling Road Diaries

Wrestling Road Diaries

In 2011, Roundtable Creations released The Wrestling Road Diaries, a wrestling documentary that features Cabana, Bryan Danielson, and Sal Rinauro. The film was shot over a period of 10 days in September 2009, and follows the wrestlers as they travel from show to show. It also shows them performing for various wrestling companies and training aspiring wrestlers. (Wrestling Road Diaries. Dir. Eric Santamaria. Perf. Colt Cabana, Bryan Danielson, Sal Rinauro. DVD. Roundtable Creations, 2011.) In the film's first few minutes, Cabana offered a brief assessment of his time with WWE and what it felt like to be back on the independent circuit:

"I went to WWE, and now I'm back but this is what I know well, and it's very familiar, so in that aspect, being back on the indies is okay, and it's fun, and it's familiar, so it's what I know best. Even though there's world-class wrestlers up there, I wasn't having world class matches. When I was in developmental, of course, a lot of my matches were against guys who had been playing football and didn't even know how to wrestle. And then when I was in WWE, my game wasn't rising. By going back to the independents, it's almost as if I'm allowed to use what I've learned in the WWE. I'm allowed to use that now in a wrestling ring I really wasn't given an opportunity to." In February 2012 Colton announced on The Art of Wrestling, that there will be a The Wrestling Road Diaries 2, featuring himself alongside Cliff Compton and Luke Gallows

Famous quotes containing the words wrestling, road and/or diaries:

    We laugh at him who steps out of his room at the very moment when the sun steps out, and says: “I will the sun to rise”; and at him who cannot stop the wheel, and says: “I will it to roll”; and at him who is taken down in a wrestling match, and says: “I lie here, but I will that I lie here!” And yet, all laughter aside, do we ever do anything other than one of these three things when we use the expression, “I will”?
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

    A novel is a mirror carried along a high road. At one moment it reflects to your vision the azure skies at another the mire of the puddles at your feet. And the man who carries this mirror in his pack will be accused by you of being immoral! His mirror shews [sic] the mire, and you blame the mirror! Rather blame that high road upon which the puddle lies, still more the inspector of roads who allows the water to gather and the puddle to form.
    Stendhal [Marie Henri Beyle] (1783–1842)

    Tomorrow in the offices the year on the stamps will be altered;
    Tomorrow new diaries consulted, new calendars stand;
    With such small adjustments life will again move forward
    Implicating us all; and the voice of the living be heard:
    “It is to us that you should turn your straying attention;
    Us who need you, and are affected by your fortune;
    Us you should love and to whom you should give your word.”
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)
