Collectivism was a free arts and music magazine edited by Ed Povey, who also handled much of the distribution and design. The "free arts music mag" takes its name from a group of Wolverhampton-based artists such as Matt Boyd, Kyla Dante, Bash 'king kong' Chamberlain, Craig White, Daniel Williams, Krystina Curtis, Paul Blakemore, Allam Ahmed, Daniel Graves & Annalise Francis to name a few, who formed a loose collective. The magazine, funded partly by the Adult Education Service and partly by selling advertising space to local businesses, had a circulation of 5,000 and was normally found in shops, cafés, pubs and nightclubs around the city.
The magazine featured artwork, poetry, news from creative individuals and groups in Wolverhampton, features on art forms like stencil graffiti, local musicians and an events listing.
Famous quotes containing the word collectivism:
“Every collectivist revolution rides in on a Trojan horse of Emergency. It was a tactic of Lenin, Hitler and Mussolini.... The invasion of New Deal Collectivism was introduced by this same Trojan horse.”
—Herbert Hoover (18741964)
