Cold Air Intake - Design Features

Design Features

Some strategies used in designing aftermarket cold air intakes are:

  • Reworking parts of the intake that create turbulence to reduce air resistance.
  • Providing a more direct route to the air intake by eliminating muffling devices.
  • Shortening the length of the intake.
  • Placing the intake duct so as to use the ram-air effect to give positive pressure at speed.

Famous quotes containing the words design and/or features:

If I knew for a certainty that a man was coming to my house with the conscious design of doing me good, I should run for my life ... for fear that I should get some of his good done to me,—some of its virus mingled with my blood.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    “It looks as if
Some pallid thing had squashed its features flat
And its eyes shut with overeagerness
To see what people found so interesting
In one another, and had gone to sleep
Of its own stupid lack of understanding,
Or broken its white neck of mushroom stuff
Short off, and died against the windowpane.”
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
