Cobb Community Transit - Planning

Planning

Along with Gwinnett, Cobb voted against MARTA in the 1970s, and thus was left out of the system. The lack of sales tax revenue from the two counties stunted the growth of MARTA, however the GRTA created by former governor of Georgia Roy Barnes has been seeking to create other solutions, such as possible light rail to Cobb through the Cumberland Mall and Town Center at Cobb areas. Other solutions proposed include special bus-only lanes on Interstate 75, and commuter rail into Cherokee County. A cross-suburb line over to Gwinnett County has also been proposed, intersecting with a future extended MARTA north line between Roswell and Sandy Springs in Fulton County.

Famous quotes containing the word planning:

Judge Bedford: Planning on having children?
    David: Naturally.
Judge Bedford: Good, then I know what to get you for a wedding present.
    David: Yeah? What’s that?
    Judge Bedford: A vasectomy.
    Dale Launer (b. 1953)

In the planning and designing of new communities, housing projects, and urban renewal, the planners both public and private, need to give explicit consideration to the kind of world that is being created for the children who will be growing up in these settings. Particular attention should be given to the opportunities which the environment presents or precludes for involvement of children with persons both older and younger than themselves.
    Urie Bronfenbrenner (b. 1917)

Few men in our history have ever obtained the Presidency by planning to obtain it.
    James A. Garfield (1831–1881)
